Meet Dr. Donna Afshar

Dr. Donna Afshar earned her bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Southern California and her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from Boston University, where she graduated magna cum laude. After completing a general practice residency at Montefiore Medical Center in New York, she began her clinical career in private practice in Queens.

In 2012, Dr. Afshar relocated to Maryland. Two years later, she joined Dr. Penski and Dr. Irvin’s practice and has been a partner at PIA Dental since that time.

She is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the DC Dental Society, the Greater Washington Academy of Women Dentists, and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.

Outside the office, Dr. Afshar enjoys staying active and can often be found in an exercise class. She lives in Bethesda with her husband and enjoys reading, painting, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
